Lido Key & Bird Key
Lido Key is for Beach Lovers
Lido Key is a barrier island off the coast of Sarasota Florida offering elegant homes and luxury condos. It lies in the middle of the row of barrier islands just across the bay from downtown Sarasota. Lido Key is separated from the Sarasota mainland by the John Ringling Causeway and bridge and St. Armands Key with its world-famous St. Armands Circle shopping and dining mecca and from Longboat Key to its north by a short bridge across New Pass.
A quiet respite for beach lovers, Lido Key has three different types of homes, single-family waterfront homes, single-family homes not directly on the water and condominiums. Architectural styles range from contemporary and Mediterranean to a few remaining, older Sarasota School of Architecture homes. Most of the homes on Lido Key range from the $500,000's to over $8,000,000. Condos are available from the high $200’s up. All the homes and condos on Lido Key are just a short walk from one of Lido's three pristine beaches.
North Lido Beach is a pristine half-mile long beach perfect for beach-walking. The beach includes dunes covered with sea oats providing cover for those wishing to be tan more discreetly. The 22-acre North Lido Beach Park feels like a forest overlooking the beach and its dunes, and includes a hiking trail to the northernmost parts of the beach.
Mid-island is the Lido Key public beach which, the most popular Lido Key beach offering cabana beach rentals, a snack and gift shop, rest rooms, a playground, a handicapped-accessible lookout deck, and ample parking.
South Lido Beach and park, at the southern tip of Lido Key, sits on 100 acres of shady Australian pines. A perfect spot for a leisurely stroll on its woodland trail or a family picnic on the public barbecue grills.
If sun drenched white sand beaches, crystal blue warm waters, soft tropical breezes and leisurely sunset walks at sunset on the beach, with easy access to everything else, is your cup of tea, Lido Key should certainly be on your list of “must sees” before you make a decision.
Bird Key is a Boater's Paradise
Completely surrounded by the waters of Sarasota Bay, Bird Key is a smaller barrier island off the south side of the John Ringling Causeway. It is secluded enough for a luxurious lifestyle with a great deal of privacy, yet easy access that all the Sarasota area has to offer.
This barrier island is a “boater’s paradise.” Many of its homes are on the bay or on deep-water canals. The Bird Key Yacht Club is considered one of the outstanding yacht clubs on Florida's West Coast. For beach lovers, the beaches of Lido Key are just a short drive away.
Bird Key is an enclave of about 460 private and exclusive single-family homes, many of them right on the waterfront or on deep-water canals. There are no commercial or condominium properties on Bird Key.
Most of the homes on this key were built in the 1960's. However, many have been torn down over the years to make way for larger, more elegant homes. Its quiet streets and striking vistas of the Sarasota skyline and Sarasota Bay have drawn some younger residents in recent years, including many celebrities. Homes on Bird Key range from about $500,000 to about $6.0 million for the most luxury waterfront homes.
If you are a boater, especially a sailboater, looking for an elegant waterfront home in a secluded setting, enjoying a casual dinner at an exclusive yacht club while living just a short distance from the beaches and downtown Sarasota, then Bird Key could be the perfect place for you to call home.
I would be delighted to show you the many luxury home and condominium options available to you on Lido Key and Bird Key at your convenience. And, perhaps you could stick around to enjoy an evening sunset on the sunny waterfront paradises that are Lido Key and Bird Key.
