While the temperatures are dropping, so are real estate interest rates for first-time homebuyer loans through The South Dakota Housing Development Authority.

"The Germans are way ahead of us in wind power," T. Boone Pickens told the crowd. "South Dakota has more wind in an afternoon than they do in a whole year." And, he said, investing in wind energy is good for real estate values.

A new study from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners shows that Texas homeowners pay far more for insurance than those in any other state. The average annual premium in Texas for the most common homeowner policy was $1,372 versus the nationwide average of $764.

While other cities may be cursing high gas prices, at least one city is cheering: Houston, Texas. With its oil and gas industry, Houston’s economy continues to expand, supporting the Texas real estate market.
